Call for Submissions
Saturday Shorts, our new fiction feature, is coming.
Exciting news: Saturday Shorts, our new short fiction section, is really coming together! We’re excited to be publishing “Riot at Legion No. 9” by the critically acclaimed Sarah Mintz, author of NORMA and handwringers, on Saturday, May 23, 2026!
Do you have a story you want to send us?
The Seaboard Review of Books is looking for submissions from new, emerging, and established writers from around the world. All genres are welcome, so long as the stories are driven by character, theme, and language—which you can interpret however you like. We’re looking for stories between 1,500 and around 4,000 words. At this time, we're not looking for novel excerpts.
Deadline for this first call is May 29th, 2026.
Simultaneous submissions are no problem, but please let us know right away if your work is accepted elsewhere. And for now, we can handle just one story per author.
Unfortunately, we don’t currently have the budget to pay writers, but we promise to give you a warm and helpful editing experience, and we’ll promote your work like we wrote it ourselves. Our response time may take up to three months, but we reply to all submissions.
Send your stories (and any questions) to seaboardfiction@gmail.com. In the same file as your story, include a short cover letter and bio outlining any past publications, and send files that are compatible with Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx, etc.).
Thanks!

Great news for the Canadians writing here, at least.
