Bobbi Brown, formerly of her namesake cosmetics company and now Jones Roads, is an icon in the makeup industry. For her natural no-makeup look, she believes skin should look like skin. Brown has released books in the past on trends, tips and tricks for the industry. Still Bobbi is her first book about her.
I’ve been a fan of Brown for years. I formally worked for Estēe Lauder brands, and they own Bobbi Brown. Some of her very own products are still loved today. Some of my favourites are the face base cream, colour correction, and the gel liquid eyeliner in the pot. Brown talks about her career while she was a makeup artist and how she first started making her own lipsticks to use on models and clients. She was a born businesswoman and inventor for the makeup and skincare industry.
Once her contract was up with Estēe Lauder, she had her new brand, Jones Road, ready to go. Even though she is in her retirement years, Brown wasn’t ready to stop working for something that she truly is passionate about. I’m currently a fan of Jones Road Miracle Balm, and it’s another iconic piece. Unfortunately, Jones Road isn’t available from a mass retailer, but it has several flagship stores in the United States, and they ship to Canada.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her drive, passion, and never-give-up mindset. As a woman working in the same industry, she is someone I truly admire. She is a mother, a wife, a business owner, and a risk-taker, all while remaining grounded. This book is for anyone in the industry, like me, who wants to learn how to stay true to their roots and adhere to their principles and values. I have read Still Bobbi twice, and I will refer to it whenever I need some inspiration.
