I don’t know Meyerson’s work but will remedy that situation.
I love a good pick the bones of form and language discussion of poetry and this one provides a heady mix with its engagement with cante jondo, poetic forms, religious and spiritual tradition, and the pure pleasure of playing with language. A melismatic tumble of its own.
I’m reminded of the work of Jack Hayes - a favourite of mine.. Similar themes, interest in form and spiritual preoccupations, from a different angle. ‘Ingathering.’
Thanks, Sheila.
The poet is lucky to have such a carefully attentive reader! Fascinating work.
